Technicians and Assistants

  • Kendra Petko
    Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kendra Petko joined the Ohana team in December 2015. Kendra is originally from Scotland, Pennsylvania. She spent her time at Wilson College studying for her Licensed Veterinary Technician degree. Kendra graduated in May 2015. With her schooling under her belt, she moved to Virginia to pursue her career and officially earned her LVT license in July 2016. We are proud to have her as our LVT. Kendra has a background with Hot Laser therapy, sharp laboratory skills with hematology and cytology, and an interest in orthopedics and physical therapy. Kendra’s desire to make her patients and clients feel like “Ohana” is one more reason we are lucky to have her.

On her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, gardening, reading, and loving her two four legged kids.

  • Katherine Plaza
    Veterinary Assistant

Katherine Plaza joined the Ohana team as a Veterinary Assistant in 2013. Kat first worked in Peru caring for puppies- from birth to weaning. She was entrusted with the treatment, care and raising of both orphaned and sickly puppies. When she moved to Virginia with her parents, Katherine wanted to continue working with animals and expand her working knowledge in veterinary medicine. Kat loves working with puppies, kittens, dogs and cats too! We are proud to announce Katherine’s acceptance into the Technician Program to improve her skills and her ability to care for all our Ohana patients. Kat speaks Spanish and English and I am sure “animal” as well. The patients truly love her.

Katherine enjoys her free time with her husband and “Princess”, her Peruvian Hairless dog.

  • Anne Perera

She found veterinary medicine to be an interesting and exciting profession. Anne is currently in the Northern Virginia Veterinary Technician program at NOVA. With her exceptional work ethic and desire to learn, she is excited to learn the proper skills and provide her patients the best medical care veterinary technology has to offer. She is currently learning new procedures through her schooling that will help with the wellness of Ohana Veterinary Care patients. Anne enjoys the interaction with the clients and helps to educate them on the needs for wellness and prevention for their beloved four legged family members. It’s true you never stop learning.

Anne spends her cherished free time with her family. She has three adorable human children, one four-legged child called Chico, and chickens to keep her busy on the farm.
